If you want to simply keep in shape and you are not a fitness fiend then you should be doing aerobic exercise.The obvious choices are walking, cyling and swimming.
For a variety of reasons we wish to advocate walking and cycling rather than th more obvious choice of swimming. We all know that swimming as the exercise par excellence however it generally gets forgotten when you go on holiday or have to travel for business etc
Our logic is keep fit with an activity that you can also do while you are on holiday. What's more you can cycle or walk to work. In other words, walking or cyling for fitness can be incorporated in your daily routine and so you do not use up your free time keeping fit.
Obviously you may argue that you are using up your holiday time if you choose to go on a walking or cycling holiday. True enough, however there are so many wonderful locations to be able to enjoy the walking or cycling holiday. I think we would all prefer to head for the countryside rather than be shut up in a sweaty gym or covered in chlorine!
One final advantage is that your if your children take it for granted that walking or cycling is part of their routine they do not develop an aversion for keeping fit as apears to be the case with so many young people.
